Looking for a skid plate for the ole Polar Bear Suburban. I believe the 81-91 208/241 units had aluminum or steel skid plates. I’d prefer steel but open to aluminum. Got to get the old Bear ready for our annual desert trip

This is the cross member. The skid plate this one takes is bowl shaped and cantilevers from the crossmember. They’re not really good skid plates but better than nothing plus if I get a steel one I can weld a chunk onto it and add a second crossmember like the older trucks had

I am going to overcomplicate things here, but why not install a clocking ring, move up one position, install another identicle crossmember behind the NP241, and fab a removeable skidplate that bolts to both crossmembers?
Just an idea that popped into my head looking at your picture

That is an idea but not something I am interested in doing but your idea is pretty much what I had in mind minus the tcase clocking. I have an extra cross member I could put behind this one and use the steel 208/241 skid then weld a 73-80 skid (that I have) to that one and bolt it to the reword cross member similar to how the K10 is below…. All I need is an 208/241 steel skid…or make something. The only problem with making one is the way it bolts to the Suburban’s existing crossmember is the ends needed to be folded up, which isn’t easy to do with what little fabrication tooling I have. I have a welder but no torch to heat up and bend metal

I know which plate you need but I can't bring up my thread about the different plates. Its on the old format and while I have the page saved it just won't show up anymore. Will look for another pic to show others what you need.

I can't find any side shot views to show the bowl shape of it.

I have maybe two or three of them but keeping them.

anybody else have one? Same style cross member, sorry larry if you want ill delete this post.

Dang....looks way better than I thought. Nice job! Is that a small shim drop on t-case??

Yeah, turned out nice. Actually looks a little beefier than I expected it to. Yep, those are little ¼ or so plate steel I made spacers out of. Cheap and easy way to get an extra degree or so without upsetting engine mounting/operating angles. Thanks again for the hook up!
