Hey guys, y'all were a big help last time so i have another issue that ive been working on and can't seem to figure out... On my 81 k5, the tailights do not work. the ones that are supposed to be on when you turn your lights on...but the rear brake lights and turn signals work perfectly and the front lights all work but the top passenger side light(but i think the bulbs just bad) so i know its not a bulb or fuse because i checked the fuses and all the fuses are good...any help with this? ive been trying to decode these 2 wiring diagrams with no luck...i think the tailights are the brown wire? but the brown wire is getting power and is all connected....i also put my multimeter to the bulb socket and was getting readings there. maybe im testing on the wrong multimeter setting(DC:10A)? Any help with this is greatly appreciated as i just got a ticket for driving without them a few nights ago....thank you!!!

My best quick guess is that you have a break or bad connection in the brown wire that feeds the rear running lights. If everything else works then the yellow and green wires are fine, and the grounds are good as well. try disconnecting the plug at the firewall and use a length of wire and an ohm meter to check that run of brown wire on the frame.

I have been dealing with this as I couldn't get LED bulbs to work properly in the trucks when incandescents work fine.

The circuit is relatively simple. The bulb socket is the ground, and obviously the two pins are hot, one for signal/brake, one for parking lights. Since parking lights are a constant with the headlight switch on, should be pretty easy to figure out where the problem is.

Sounds like you have your meter on the wrong setting. A is Amps, you need DC Volts. The one with the line over dots is DC.
