I just picked-up an 81 K5 Blazer this week, and I need some advice.....

what temp thermostat should I be running?

it has a 4" lift and looks like stock brake lines, what is recommended for replacements - I do plan on off-roading it, and not just fire roads either. are there any other vehicles whose stock lines fit and are longer? or is it just aftermarket parts (on my old jeep tj I ran yj lines because they were 3" longer, and cheap replacements)

that's it for now...... gears and lockers are in the mail, armor and bumpers are somewhere on my list too, I'm sure I'll have more questions later

Thanks
Tom

First, I'll make the obligatory admonishment to try out the search feature.

That done with, I'll tell you that I bought brake lines for the front of an 89 2WD pickup and they were about 4 inches longer than the stock ones on my Blazer, and had the same fittings. Bingo. They come with a metal bracket attached in the middle of the hose, but a vice and a pair of pliers (taking care not to damage the hose) took care of that.

Thermostat: There are as many different opinions about this as there are people on this forum, so I'll leave it alone.

I am a old school drag racer and belive in a 165. In your case though a bit warmer like a 180 wouldn't hurt. A cooler thermostat will help keep you out of detontion while running more timing.

Extended brake hoses that are 25 7/8" long will fit 10bolt from 89-2000 2wd chevy/gmc from right front but will work for both sides and can be modified to fit a D44.
