I'm thinking it would have same drivetrain as a K5, but not 100% sure since it is a diesel. Im looking at a 82 1/2 ton 4x4 truck with diesel and 4 speed manual. Can someone tell me what axles it would have (im thinking front and rear 10 bolts). Also what would have been stock gearing for this combo? And finally with the diesel motor and no overdrive what kind of mileage would it get?

Thanks!!

10 bolts, not sure of stock gearing, you should be getting 20+mph.

Is the engine painted red? If it's the stock engine from '82 it will be red and have a high nickle content, which is good. Bad is there were a few design improvements in the later year engines. Also your fuel injectors are of a coarse thread. Only the first year were they made that way.

Most likely with a diesel (although not a guarantee) it will have either 3.08 or 3.43 gearing. Usually they would put higher gearing in the diesels to keep the RPM's lower at highway speeds. Should get around 20 or so highway mileage.

Ya Im wanting that 20 MPG when I need to make the 300+ mile trip to visit my cousin for some fun. Now I take my DD car which gets 22 MPG on the trip but would rather take a truck since in the summer we spend all our time at the lake and in the winter we are on the mountain playing in snow. :D
