Ive been towing utility trailers with sleds/garbage with my 87 K5 Blazer without issue. The Blazer addiction has hit hard and now I'm buying a 2wd Jimmy in like new condition.

I got curious on the 2wds weight ratings and towing capacity, which I can't seem to find. This Jimmy will have 6.2/6 speed swapped in so power will be fine but as we all know the short wheelbase and weight is what matters. Does anyone have specs?

It's a class 3 hitch, pretty sure they were rated at 500lb tongue, 5k tow. I think that's high depending on the mods (flexy springs?). I towed a 20' bow rider w/ my '89 on stiff 2" lift, probably about 3400 lbs. It handled fine, but I don't think I would have liked much over 4K.

5k and 500lb tongue is what sticks out in my head for my 87K5 too. I wasn't sure if the 2wds different ride height/geometry changed much, likely doesn't since the rear probably has the same leaf. I'll agree I don't like to push these trucks (or any) to their limit on towing.

My neighbor has a trailering special 2wd Jimmy, curious what that was about too.
