Might have a possible lead to a 6.5 turbo diesel out of an 03 Hummer (H1) Apparently the guy is going to do a duramax conversion so he will be pulling out the 6.5 along with the 4l80e tranny.

Is this swap even possible and if so what kind of headache would it be?

I would want to swap over the engine and tranny together. I would probably need to figure out a different transfer case to mate to the 4l80E.

The biggest thing is the turbo sits pretty much where your AC/ fan housing sits.

I think you can clear it with some work if you don't have AC and lets face it, where you live don't really need air conditioning

No Ac. Ya don't really need or want it anyway. Being that we have 2 seasons in Jackson.....Winter and July.

So is the 6.5 basically the same motor as the 6.2 as far as fit...motor mounts ect. Is this something that could be done in a couple days labor or is it more of a process involving several modifications?

Let's say it was a 6.5 out of a 95 chevy pickup with the 4l80e. Is that in deed the same engine as what is in this 03 H1?

I'm hoping to do something similar so I'll watch this thread for later :)

Like Blazinzuk said to use the Hummer 6.5 turbo stuff and transfer case is a major pain in the ass but doable.

your best bet would be to sell the hummer related turbo stuff and buy a Banks kit, both of my current DD's have Optimizer 6.5's ( which is what your talking about) I have banks kits desgined for 6.2 's on them and they run and drive awesome!

Don't Hummers have center-mount turbos? If they do,the heater isn't a problem, but clearance issues on firewall. The 4L80E should bolt to a NP208...right? Don't the NP241 and 208 bolt up the same?

Exactly.
It's center mounted like the van turbo.
