Did a search and didnt find what I was looking for.. i bought my son a 82 k5 blazer and it was a farm truck and had a pushbutton to start.. well we are trying to make it only use the key again. Replacing the ignition switch and the neutral safety. But.. every part store I go to and when I look em up online. It doesnt match at all.. it was originally a diesel.. but is a 350 now. But the part shows to be the same either way. The one it came with volts on with a volt on either side and only has 4 terminals on the left side that two plugs plug into.. the one that it shows at parts stores etc has those 4 terminals on the left.. (although 2 are at a slightly different location) and it has one on the far right.. (what I saw said that was for trucks with a ECM) Also, the one it shows clips in instead of bolts... but that doesnt seem to lineup right.
I have pics.. but havent posted a pic on a forum in a long time.. how do you do that?

Someone probably swapped an older steering colum in the truck..

I have an 82 K2500 diesel and I "think" the neutral safety switch bolts to the colum, but I have not looked at it recently--only time I looked at it was when I disabled it when I was having problems with the starter not wanting to crank, just "click",and by-passing it cured that,so I left it like that--I also like being able to start it "in gear" for other reasons, like if it happens to stall while in motion..

It is rather puzzling they show the clip on type switch for an 82 K5 or diesel pickup, but the older trucks from 1980 and older have the bolt on type switch with different terminal layouts..

This is the one listed for an 82..

This is one for a 1980 (and older ones back to 1976 ,maybe even further)..

Two of the terminals are for the neutral safety and two others are for the back up lamps--not sure what the others are for!..

Thanks.. I cant view those pics.. sends me to a page that says network error. I am halfway thinking of just doing a floor mounted b&m or the like and not messing with the factory part.

I think after you post a certain number of times you can see the photos ?..not sure what the site's rules are..might need to be a paying member to view them,I dont know..

You can go to Rock Auto's site and look a NS switch up for a 1980 K5 or pickup and look at the pictures I suppose..that is where I got them from..

Did that 82 switch work for your truck? I'm in the same boat as you.
