'82 furd van pitman arm work for x over?

I know the 74-79 vans do, but the only one I could find was an '82 at the pick n pull. Will this still work for crossover? Why does this work vs an ordinary pitman arm from a 2wd chevy?

The reason the earlier one is popular is that it is of the correct depth to clear the frame without going so low as to interfere with the axle.
