So I bought this truck in San Antonio and brought it down to Houston. It will be a daily driver/project truck. I have a few plans on this truck that will be done soon. Although since I am in the Army and bought this truck while I was on R&R most work will wait until I get back. But I will be stock piling parts. I head back to Iraq tomorrow so the parts hunt begins.
So on to my plans now.
I plan to swap in a Cummins engine. Either a 4bt or 5.9. A lot of friends from high school went to TSTC for diesel mechanics so they know a lot of it and offered to rebuild an engine for me for cheap. Cant beat that deal. As well with a friend of mine who does milling can make me an adapter plate to fit an Allison trans behind the engine.
Also for as much as I like the gauges that are in it they don't have a odometer in them so they aren't to good for a daily driver. I plan to order the Dakota Digital gauges that they are about to come out with. They are a digital/analog version. VFX I think are the name. Should be out soon. As well as some of the expansion modules and other accessories.
That is most of what I have planned for it now. Maybe some more later on down the road.
Now for what I have already done to it.
I swapped in the power windows so they all work great.
I also painted the mirrors black so they look a lot better now. I think. I want to get them powder coated one day.
Also made a quick custom gauge cluster to house the gauges better and fix the wiring in the back. I am huge into detail with wiring and making them look good and clean. So I cleaned them all up and soldered the wires and heat shirked them. Much cleaner look.
Other than that, the most I have done it time the engine which made it run a million times better. I don't know who did it before but I think they didn't know anything. Also I installed an Optima Red top in it.
Well here are some pics of when I got it and the last 3 will be what I have done to it.
