Long story short, I picked up this k10 recently with the 6.2. I'm having running issues. It usually doesn't take much to start. It's been building air in the fuel system. I've been bleeding it out of water separator. I have spin on filter. It's a dual tank truck, I don't have driver tank on at the moment. I'm not sure if it's good or not. When I got the truck it didn't have bed on and I could tell that the vent tube was filling up with fuel. Beds on now still building pressure at fuel cap. I can start it and it will pretty much run all day or I can cruise all over town. I can go like up to 45 for a short distance no issues. Once I go above that it does and doesn't restart. Last night I took it a little further after fixing a few issues, secondary filter behind intake was loose. Tightened, I also hung the filler neck and put A clamp on the line coming out of ip pump. Truck died after about 2 1/2 miles. I got it started back up after bleeding air. Turned around and died about 1/4 mile after. Now won't start. Just looking for direction. I've been looking through forums but nothing with all of my symptoms any help will be appreciated

Sounds to me like your are getting air introduced into the line in front of the pump

How old is the IP?

Unsure just got the truck a couple weeks ago. Just trying to confirm lift pump, sending unit and ip pump are good.

Start with the basics..... vacuum leaks are a major hassle on diesel trucks.... Check everything from the tank, inside the tanks, transfer valve...

There should be a mechanism to control emissions / evaporation from the tank, just like a gasser.

Confirming all vacuum side issues are cheap....

Cheap test..... Run the truck with the fuel cap loose enough to relieve pressure.

IP that would need to be tested per factory specs.

I put a clear tube on return there's definitely air in there. Also tried with cap loose it didn't change anything. I'm kind of wondering if lift pump is failing. It's cheap enough to change for piece of mind. What's a good way to check the tank selector

Pressurize your fuel tank by simply drilling a hole in your fuel cap or spare fuel cap and install an air fitting or tire valve stem. See example picture: Sometimes air comes in but fuel does not leak. Usually you will see some wetness on a rubber hose connecting to one of the fuel hardlines. Replace any that seem wet or what I like to say, “ sweat”.

If the tank or tanks have been out, check those hoses as well. Tighten hose clamps if they seem loose.
