My K5 headlights arent working. Neither are my dash gauges (fuel gauge, volt meter, oil temp). I replaced the ignition relay (ford style located on the inside fenderwell) and there is no power on the post connected to the 2 red fusable wires that go into the harness, either with ignition on or off..My marker/running lights were instantly popping the fuse when i tried to use them recently, yet the headlights were still working. My turn signals were working as of a few nights ago, but now nothing works.. I'm tearin my hair out.. Any idea's??:dunno:

Extra info if its a factor..I recently replaced my core support, and front bumper/fender on my k5..

do you reconnect the grd to the core support? vital.....

All grounds are accounted for, and I took them off and made sure they were clean too

Check the battery cables, but given your fuse issues it's probably something more.
Positive cable leading to starter is newly replaced.. I also found (along with a cracked starter) 2 loose wires that should have been on the starter.. I'm not sure if the running lights work now, (ran out of time last night) but my headlights and turn signals do work now.. Oil temp and fuel gauge still not working..

The core support is grounded on both sides. I did spray primer on the core support before install, but the grounds are clean of paint..

I am wonderin. I bought a new kickdown cable, and a corvette servo.. What speeds should my shifting be at.. The old cable is only giving me 1st-2nd gears (its worn out.. which is why im replacing it).

I'll post this evening how it went, but I'll check on here from time to time to see if someone posts shift speeds for me..

your gonna have bigger probs than that... it's not a kickdown cable, it is a tv cable, vastly different and more vital... it controls line pressure...... you will nuke a 700r4 in short order without it set properly... when installing, you "set" it, not adjust...

everything you ever wanted to know about tv cables....

Yeah, that was my concern with the old cable.. Doesnt seem like it wants to shift at right times.. I'm plannin on puttin the new cable in as well as the corvette servo tomorrow afternoon.

Anyone up in the northwest? I'm feelin all alone up here in Washington State..

That "relay" youy replaced has one purpose,to energize the glow plugs!...wont affrect the rest of the electrical system....sounds like you have a bad fusible link somewhere, there are two in the thick red wires that bolt to the starter under the positive battery cable and another on the firewall near the master cylinder..I've seen many fuse boxes corrode inside where the two halves bolt together at the firewall also on older trucks..

Well. I figured out it was the round plug on my trailer hitch that was grounding itself out and poppin my running lights fuse.. The dash gauges were a loose fuse.. And I got the turn signals on.. but they quit halfway home... So outside tomorrow to figure that out..

I got my "tv" detent cable installed and I believe I adjusted it right... But it seems to me my overdrive isnt kickin in.. My rpm's s eem a bit high at 65.. at least higher than they used to be.. Any clue??
