Send me yours and I'll show you how I'd mount it on my blazer.:D

Yep, been kinda scopin' around for a used one.

Mines just on a bumper... nothing special but I don't have a good reason to post pics very often so here!:D

Mine was in worse shape then yours but they're pretty easy to clean up and repair.

thats one of those warn bumpers you have there Justin? thats one thing I noticed about this style winch, it sticks way out unless you trim your grille.

Same style as the Warn bumpers not sure if it actually is one though, I was picking up the winch and found the bumper in the old man's yard, he threw it in for cheap.

But yeah I've got it tucked up pretty close and it still sticks out about a foot.

Here is mine, Kert did the center section for me and I finished off the center section and added the sides. Still want to add a stinger and support bars.

I like how this sits on top of the bumper so you don't loose your approach angle, and is also recessed into the grill

good find Tom I like that too. I think 38377k5 has one recessed too, maybe he will post some pics.

Haha, just saw this right after you posted.

All of these are from when my truck was full bodied way back when

Before, just a standard Warn winch bumper

After, ditched the little wings because they're wimpy and just hung me up anyway. Moved the mount up and back, there are a few threads on exactly this topic.

Oh yeah, I'd highly recommend opening the top part of the gear case and changing the oil. Warn says it's lifetime (possible they didn't assume so many would still be in service 30 years later :) )but I went through mine a couple years ago (to clean electrical contacts mostly) and the oil was basically globs of goo at the bottom, probably wasn't helping the gears any.

Thanks, my search turned up nothing really. I think the problem with the search feature is if its even in someones sig it shows up. so you go through thread after thread for nothing. I gave up and posted this. If you have a thread that you are thinking of that shows how you cut yours and moved it up that would be great.

edit I did find some after re-searching titles only.:doah: but some pics are missing due to old threads.

Thanks fellas! I just dont like how far some hang out in front and how low they are with this style winch.

I don't have the winch installed yet since the truck's not running but you can see the mount itself (Diy4x bumper center) and how far it sticks out. Mine will have the winch recessed into the grille with about an inch between it and the core support.
