I have a Warn 8274 that I am thinking of selling. Someone here in town approached me and asked if I would be willing to sell it. It is in good working order but needs a new cable. Could you give me some input on what you think would be a fair price for it? I want to use the cash from it to rebuild another 8274 with an upgraded motor and possible a sythetic line:D .

Thanks,
Tim

Well, considering that that particular winch is $1100.00 new i would say you could easily get $600.00 even needing a new cable.

Remember that this is probably a very old winch. Comparing it to the new price is pointless IMO. Aside from that fact, that is what has been on the front of my truck for the past 23 years. It has worked flawlessly except for a ground problem (not the winches fault). They are widely considered the most underrated, most reliable, and overall best winch ever. I wouldn't part for mine for less than the price of a brand new Warn.

i sold my really old one off here in 2001 for 550.00 of I recall correctly:D

I picked mine up for $150. Needed solenoids, motor and line. I'd guess around $300-$400 for one that just needs line.

You could always donate it to me and then we would each have 2 to work with.:D

I gave 350.00 for mine about 14 years ago to a kid who didn't know what he had. I have seen them go for about 450 to 550 w/o the line or some other minor problem over the past few years. I will check with some others I know. You could always get a cable here in Flowood. I know someone who got a 9.5 done for 60.00 locally.
