82dieselburb's 76 Jimmy Crawler project [PICS]

My new years resolution is to get my jimmy done for a spring trip to Tellico:D
I picked it up last summer and have been slowly working on it.
I totaly disassembled it and sand blasted the frame.
I put the 52" springs that were on the rear on the front.
It now has 63"s in the rear.Should have tons of flex:D :D
Dana 60 and 14 bolt FF w/disc brakes and planning on F&R Detroit lockers.
I order some 17" double beadlocks wheels from Stazworks to go with the new 39.5 Irock's I have.I won't get the wheels untill the begining of Feb.
Rebuilt SM465-203-205 ORD doubler.ORD cross over steering
I haven't decided which engine I'm going to put in it.I have an extra 6.2 diesel and a sb 400 in my garage.
I narrowed the rear body 10" and am planning on narrowing the front also.
In a few weeks I'm going to twist up a full famly cage.
This weekend I'm planning on replacingthe rusty floor boards with diamond plate and put the doubler set up in so I can measure for new drive shafts.I also need to fab up a double crossmember .I'll post more pics this weekend.

Looks like a 76 or 77 to me...75's were full convertable still.

Cool project at any rate! I'd drop the 6.2 in there...awesome motors for crawling and already fuel injected. :)

I would love to see pics of the dimond plate floor, when you are done.

You are correct it is a 76,I'll edit it .I'm leaning toward the 6.2.I just need to get the injection pump rebuilt and new injectors.I need to make a wiring harness for it also, which I don't thing would be too hard.I love my 6.2 in my surburban. :D :D

That's going to look great! You're a brave man!!!

Love the doors. Won't work over here tho.......too much rain. (and that's just our summers! )

post up when you're done, good luck.:waytogo:

Try www.accuratediesel.com for injector pump and injectors. I got my IP rebuilt and a set of injectors from them for $347 including shipping...and the truck works great. The guys name is Tim and his customer service is second to none.

I had Tim rebuild my IP and injectors on my suburban.I will use him again,I was happy with his work and the price was right.

Well today I got the drivers side floor and slider in.The slider is 5 feet long and made out of 4x4 1/4 inch tube.I'm planning on welding some round tubing on the out side of the sliders. The bottom of the slider sits about 2 inches above the frame rail.I'm planning on tying the slider to the frame with two pieces of tubing with bushing on both sides.

He has Skilz, it's easy for him. Some good ideas on the doors and floors, I'll keep that in mind.
