Ok so ive aquired a 79 1ton frame for $500. what a steal i know lucky me:rolleyes:. Now im a total noob to this body swap stuff, but the end result is to have a 5.9L cummins in the 1ton truck in the future for towing and farm use. Currently i will swap my 350/700r/208 combo from the 83 1/2ton to the 79 1ton. i know im gonna have to get some more research on the driveshafts and/or adapters. to mate to the d60 and 14ff

But, i geuss the question is will my current 83 1/2ton body swap over on to the 79 1ton frame. I will be lifting it 4" or 6"spring(HD T.C. Ez-Ride) and shackle flip(diy4x) with 1in body(ORD) before I swap the body onto the frame. Do yall think im pretty much on the right path.

Thanks,
Dirk

yup. i thought some years had different rear body mounts. since you have both, check them out. worry about drive shafts later. front will work fine, the rear will need a conversion u-joint, very common.

i installed a 2wd 87 body on a 79k30. easy swap.

get a set of body mounts for the oldstyle frame and 4wd if thats what ya got. then set and bolt down the new body with no problems.

only prob i had was 2wd low floor hump. but 2" body lift fixed that. and 81-up had diffrent frame ends on front of frame for bumper brackets.

easy to do and no real problems. been driving it for 2 years now.
