Well, guys I finally took the plunge and jumped head over heals into my blazer..literally. Listen to this though...My pops knew a guy down the street that just gave him a 83 k5...guy rebuilt the engine bored it..new 4core radiator..rebuilt the a/c system..rebuilt the tranny and transfer case and all new lines...just GAVE him the truck...only downside is that the body was pretty rough. so here is where it gets goooood. I was looking for floor pans and rear floor when I came across craigslist and a 83 blazer that had a perfect body but not really an engine(well beat up engine)..guy wanted 1500 for it and BOOM..got him down to $400 bucks for everything. Now all I have to do is swap all the engine stuff over and new blazer...selling the engine in the blazer i bought for 400 dollars for 400 dollars and broke even...now its just time to finish up little bits of body tid bits and I'm back in action...I think this forum gave me good luck...well time to go play a little with the truck...oh the joy...always been a chevy truck guy but the blazer is growing on me quick...hope to see more tech. articles and so forth..sorry for the long rant but couldn't resist for my first post..

That's an awesome score fore free. That will motivate you to do some work!!

Thats a great deal. Post some pics. Where in Texas are you?

It's raining today so no pics at the moment but will get some up soon but take the last post with white blazer that's what I got for 400 the truck that has the engine is a black truck. Just not in great shape inside.

Rained and snowed here too. Are you anywhere close to DFW area?

OK..ok..pics

Ok so here is the picture of the black truck..the one with all the good engine, tranny, glass, transfer case, dash, lines...that were all rebuilt but the inside floor pans are done and the rear deck is needed..to much work so the white truck is the one that is going to get all the goods but the body is almost perfect..can't really tell in pics but its night and day to the black one...good thing about it is the little places that need metal in the white truck I can cut out of the black truck so I won't ever need to buy any new metal..its all there for me...so all you non believers..here you go...lol nothing crazy but it's what I have for now.

Tell me about it. Only downside is I use to have a 78 silverado that I put one tons on and sold the truck with the Dana 60 that I spent over 1500 on..real sad part is the kid I sold it to is just letting it sit. I'm gonna try and get the truck back as soon as I can. I want that running gear back. Truck was real rough but a great trail rig but at the.time needed the money for my son. But as they say or at least I say "everything happens for a reason" thank god my wife loves getting dirty to..well I just need to start cutting tomorrow and get to welding. More pictures to come any one who has template for rear panels. I'd would love them:wink1:

If you hate me that much, I might not send the templets. LOL:haha::haha:

Thanks I just want to get it finished this year.

death to the roof and new one on

I did something most people would be afraid of. I cut my hood off and replaced it with the hood from my black/parts truck. Fitment is almost Perfect still need to weld it all in but as of now its tacked and ready..that was a long Sunday. Once that's done I have a little firewall piece and about a 2x2 ft section in floor and its on to paint. Anyone in here ever cut out the metal dash that holds everything to the truck and make it so that it is removeable instead of welded to the windshield and bolted to the sides? If so would love pictures on the easiest way to do it.

Oops. Yeah that was suppose to be roof not hood. Great experience and definitely a easy way to kill all the rust that was there. Considering now everything. Is sanded down and clean. Weld in the small gaps on clean it up to look like one piece again and then its on to the floors. Now anybody do that dash thing?
