i bought this K5 a couple years ago and it ran like a dog. since i've upgraded to a sb406, edlebrock intake, holley carb, headmen headers, glasspacks, and oh yeah no smog equipment.

here's where the problem is. the tranny shifts wierd(think it's due to the fact it was a diesel first). engine is set @ 8degrees BTDC(just sounded good from way back in auto shop(but it back fires when warmed up and hesitates while reving).

any help welcome on either the tranny thoughts or engine troubles.

thanks

auto trans ? or ?

what model ?

you know diesel torque converters are less stall speed than gas right ?

if 700r4 then its most likely incorrect TV cable adjustment, 700r4 are very picky about cable position and if its far enough off it will hurt the tranny bad

good luck

If it's a TH400 there are at least two things different about the OE diesel versions. The converter as mentioned, and the govenor. Find a gasser TH400 govenor for it. If the 406 has a lot of low speed torque the converter may work.
