Hello all! I am building a 1983 GMC Jimmy Sierra Classic, I've had it since I was 16. Currently, I am repairing body and whatnot to get it bedlined, but I still want to use it as a workhorse yada yada. There is one small problem, my tailgate. For some reason, the button broke to roll it up and down, upon discovering that I had a friend look into it and say he found a wire that was also broken at some point, but we are not on talking terms anymore so I do not know where to look. Better yet, dont know how to hook the wire back up. Does anyone know where the wires are and where they connect? Also, my back handle with the lock cylinder, it doesn't roll the window up OR down like it's suppose to, then again I'm not sure I have the right key. When I bought it, I was given two keys. One for the truck, and one for the doors. Would the one for the doors be the same as the one for the power window in the back? If not, what is my best option to get it to work, locksmith? I'd rather not convert to manual, but will if needed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Tony

The key for the doors should be the same one for the tailgate. I would guess that there is a problem with the the wiring to the motor if neither switch works. The wires for it should be under the left side of the tailgate, just outside of the frame. At least mine does. There are 3 wires in the harness going into the frame, and a white ground wire. Check that and you may find something to start with. The key switch in the tailgate is not available new, from what I remember, but I believe that guys have had some luck with cleaning them. Hopefully yours doesn't need work.

Try this . . .
