Well, I’m not sure if this is a non update update(those seem popular I have noticed lately) or a pre-update, or what. I don't have a lot of updates on the truck because I have been working mostly on the shop and the property. Once the shop is ready, then maybe I will have more updates on the truck.
Since the last time I posted I moved to and from Houston. Stayed there for a year but didn't really like the city life and the wife got a better job so we moved back to the midwest, I live in WI now, about 90 minutes from my parents house. Luckily I got to keep my Houston job so I now I work from home most of the time. We really like it here, it’s peaceful countryside and the people are nice and the traffic is well, not traffic. More like how I grew up so it’s good to be back in the country.
The truck I have been using more for hauling stuff lately than play, all I have done to it is change the oil and other regular maintenance. I did take it to the dunes once last year, had a good time with it.
Then the last two nights I have been doing more maintenance, checking all the fluids, checked a lot of bolts, blasted the valve covers (always wanted to do that), adjusted the steering box since it was getting a little slop, washed it, changed the oil in the OBA compressor, etc. I also found a leaky master cylinder, brakes still work and fluid isn't low but it is seeping down the booster so I plan to replace that tonight before I leave for the trip tomorrow. I also need to check the nitrogen pressure in the shocks and top those POS shocks off with nitrogen.

As for updates. I have updates on other items I’ve been up to recently. I got two new 4x4s! These are the first entirely new vehicles I have ever bought in my life. One has full hydraulic steering with portal axle technology!
It also has a liquid cooled v twin and full hydraulics, along with a front end loader and Cat 1 rear 3 pt hitch with 540 rpm PTO.
Now before you say it doesn't qualify as a wheeling rig I did take it wheeling once, I was building a new bridge on the property and I had taken the old one out and I couldn’t resist. I made it at full throttle with a bump to get over the log, but sitting on the back of that tractor I was nervous it was going to go over backwards, but the reverse pedal is inches away if it did.
The other new rig has fully independent suspension with 18" of travel and internal bypass shocks! We can take these on most trails in WI now because they are under the max width of 65”, plus it fits on the trails on my property. Now, it’s a lot faster than the old RZRs are but it’s still slow. My truck has about 10 lbs/hp with me in it, for the RZR to have that same ratio it would need about 150 hp, and it has 107. It really needs a turbo! It does go through the creek a lot easier than the tractor did. For the trails it is great, for the sand, it needs more power. (still has more power than any other stock UTV so far)

As for the shop, well, we bought a place in the country in WI that the previous owner had already built a shop, and I am grateful! It is a 40 x 100, and 40 x 60 of it is open uninsulated storage. Then about 40 x 40 is insulated with 4 separate rooms. I dubbed them the auto shop, fab shop, wood shop, and engine room! So since I now actually have room to fit more tools, I upgraded. So, I don’t have many updates on the truck, buts that’s because I am just preparing, for the future…
I got a new quincy compressor and plumbed drops to every room.
Blast cabinet...
I also bought a tubing bender…JD2 Model 32 hydraulic, I got the OTC air/hydraulic pump on amazon for $220. I built the stand from 2.5x2.5x1/8 wall square tube.
A new Miller Synchrowave 210 TIG welder (I built the weld bench finally too, 2x2x1/8” legs with 3/8” thick top. The new Syncrhowave 210 is really an awesome new machine for us DIY guys that still want more capability down the road and need to run off a 30A 220V circuit.
Then I also bought a used 50 ton press (old made in USA one), a used variable speed (150 - 3000 RPM) drill press, and a used parts washer (Graymills, made in USA).
And also, some very basic tools that I have always wanted but never had up until this point, a bench grinder and vice! Yes, I built the truck up to this point without those two items. Between that and the welding bench I am happy to not weld and grind on my knees on the floor anymore.

Also, about 2 months ago my wife and I had a baby daughter, her name is Anna and so far she has been wonderful. We are grateful to have her and its been a change in our lives, but a good one!
And about 1 month ago my brother brought his truck over, and him, our father, and I put a 4 link in his truck. But this is a drag magnum 4 link kit from Comp Engineering, so its obviously set up for drag racing and not ground clearance! The truck is an 81 C10 stepside shortbed with a procharged 468 BBC in it and the 4L80E we built back several posts.
