83 k20 question

What tranny/tcase combo would most likely be found in a 83 k20 4x4 truck with a 350 eng. It is regular cab with 8' bed if that matters. I know somebody with one but he lives a good ways from me but I am interested in the gear. I told him were to look to find the tag on the tcase but he said he couldn't find it (he's just lazy I think). Could anybody help me?

My 83 came with a 465/208.

was it manual or automatic? if auto it should have a th400. if manual it would have a sm465 with probably a np208.

Sorry yes it is an auto. So if it is a th400 would it bolt up to the 350eng and np208 I have in my 81 sub? Thanks for the help!

yes, it will bolt up. are you swapping just the trans or the t-case also?

Well my 81 sub has a 350 - th350 - np208(with slipyoke) and I would like to switch to a th400/205 so I thought I will take his th400 and try to find a 205 somewhere else. But it sounds like I can just bolt up the th400 and maybe keep the 208 I have for now untill i find a 205. The main reason I want a 205 is to get rid of the slipyoke but I see now that Tom Woods is offering a sye kit for the 208 do you know anything about it? And thanks for the help!!

i'm not so sure about putting a 208 where a 205 was. someone else will have to help you. why not get all the parts gathered and do drive shafts once?
