Hello all,

I'm kinda new to the K5 world and need some direction. I picked up an '83 Jimmy and don't know what to do about the back window. The glass is there however held up by two 2x4"s. I can see the electric motor and the u channel on the bottom of the glass but nothing connecting them. :-(
This is where I'm stuck. what do I do now. I see three options:

1) Replace the regulator and other stuff that connects the motor to the window with used parts. What should check for in my tailgate (mounts, options, damaged parts) to make sure i get the right stuff to make it work?

2) To just replace the tailgate with a working one from the yard. What years will fit? Suburbans too or just Jimmy/blazers?

3) pay someone near SE Michigan to fix it. How much would that cost?

thank you all for your advice!

Todd

1) Figure out what works and what doesn't first. Test the motor, look for missing parts, check the regulator for broken, bent parts, stripped teeth, etc. Some of the parts are available new.

2) Junkyard might save some money. Suburban tailgates will not work.

3) Depending on what's wrong with it, could get expensive.

ok, thanks. Do you have a link to a good diagram or pictures of the window mechanism? The sketch in my manual isn't very clear.
