There's an ad locally parting out a 1ton x military truck and it has 4.56 gears already.Problem would be I cant use my wheels or tires and from what Ive found about these is the spring perches are narrower so modifications would be needed.I havent called yet but seems they would have to be a screeming deal for me to bother with.Thoughts.:dunno:

front bolts in and blead the brakes as you use the 60 calipers.

rear is easy cut off the shock tabs and perches and weld a new set on from few of our vendors here thay offer good stuff.

wheels / tires can be worked around. if your goin 1tons then you are basicly past the bling bling faze of rims. so cheep steels work best. and if 15" tires then these will fit dana 60 no grinding. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/USW-78-5080R/

Is that the junkyard on CL? I thought about calling also, figured they`d want all the $$ for them. If the price is right, that is the set up to have. Like others have said, easy to swap rear perches, sell your wheels/tires and buy another set.

Dont think its a salvage yard but there is one I think located in somers.I was looking for a 14 bolt semi float rear and came across the ad but don't think I want to get that deep into it.I like my wheels and tires and want to keep the cost on the down low. Here's the posting if you want to check into it.

Yup, that is the one I saw in Somers. I think it is a junkyard, he had a few other ads also. It still might be worth a call.

Has anyone ever regretted upgrading to a front Dana60 and rear 14FF....not that I know of. I think you should get those axles if the price is decent. Those CUCV axles are 4.56 and as mentioned, a Detroit Locker in the back.:waytogo:

well only u can decide if you need them..

i love my d60 front and 14bff rear..

however... they can be found locally to me on CL with 4.56's and lockers front and back for $1500 and sometimes with x-over steering too!!!!!

i bought a 79 1 ton gmc.. parted it out and kept the front d60.. so front d60 cost me $35 i think i figured it to be.. had 4.10's in it..

i paid $600 for the front detroit and carrier, 475 for the rear detroit and also a 4.56 gear set for the d60 and install kit.. total ran $1200... and that is less than axles!!!!!!!!!!! so if you can get them already setup.. your set !!!!!!!
