been scanning the web while I'm stationed in the desert and came across a beautiful 84 surburban, it's 2wd but has a rebuilt 6.2 and the banks sidewinder kit, only has around 1 to 5k on the rebuild ( guys father got sick and died) but the truck was bought by his dad back in 84 and this things clean. My question is how cheap and straightforward can I do a 2wd to 4wd swap on this thing. I've also got an 83 k5 with the 6.2 at home that I'm currently rebuilding . Just trying to see if it's worth the trouble and what I would need to do

Cheapest way would be to find a donor 4wd suburban and swap the frames. Use the rebuilt engine mated to the 4wd trans and t-case. Transmission tunnels are different between 2wd and 4wd bodies and usually require a body lift if you don't want to cut and weld on the 2wd floor. You can convert your current frame to 4WD, get the associated bits and such to pull it off. @mrk5 did this with a crew cab and @AbramJ is working with a 78 2wd body on an 84 frame at the moment.
