84 chevy K30: Broken hood latch. How do I get it open.

Nothing is ever easy. I am going to change the oil and go to pop the hood and the release lever under the dash pulls easily and nothing happens. I am assuming the cable broke somewhere.

The hood is closed. How do I go about getting open?

This crap pisses me off!

If there is any cable left under the dash, you could splice back the hood latch handle mechanisim (like you would with electrical wiring), and then clamp on to the peice of cable sticking out with a pair of locking pliers to pull it open.

Try pulling the latch a few times and then smacking the hood with your hand right on the front edge or just give it a good push down .

thanks for the advice. I got it open. I pulled the latch through the grill and gave the hood a shove upwards and it popped open.

the cable was not broken, it seemed that the entire cable cover and cable were moving together instead of the cable moving inside of the cover.
