84 GMC Diesel Jimmy Build

Yes, still a work in progress. Needs a cage, 40's, injectors, P7100 injection pump, and a bigger turbo before next BB. I am being very optimistic; especially, with my newborn son.

that's awesome looking work there!! I wish I knew where to get one of those a/c unit insulator shells!

What's up with those cad drawings? you gonna post em up or is that top secret??:D

all the ones I found in the junkyard basicaly crumbled to peices when I tried to remove them.

I guess that four link info is top secret??:(

Thanks for posting a build thread, i saw pics of it at this year's BB 09 and wanted a better look at it. Definately get's my vote for GM of the month as well.

Congrats on the birth of your son!!

You have literally made me sick with the quality and awesomeness of this build! You sir have a talent.

Keep up the work

Thank You,

What is it that you do for a living?

Started working on the engine a little bit the last few week after talking with my frend u orth that has a 3.9 Cummins in his Scout II. I took his advise and removed the restricted water after cooler off and started fabbed up a new intake with a grid heater. I plan on using an aftermarket intercooler and SS tubing. There is alot of this stuff on the internet (tuner crowd). I have been buying most of my supplies from siliconintakes.com. Going to get rid on the non wastegated Holset H1C and use either a HX35, HY35, or a VVT off of a cummins 6.7.

It is a very tight fit getting the tubing through the core support; especially, with the large radiator extending all the way to the battery tray on the drivers side. The passenger side it fairly easy. Order the rest of my parts. I decided to use a Hy35 out of a 2000 5.9 with automatic. The automatics have a slightly smaller turbine housing (9cm) compared to the manual trans engines, so I figured with injectors and more pump tuning I so be able to use it. I would have liked to use the HE351 VVT out of the 6.7 Cummins but do not have the room. The advantage of the VVT is the lag is minimized by having a adjustable turbine housing (~3-18+cm). Maybe in the future I can use a VVT...CrewCab with 5.9 on 42" IROKs".

Well will not be working on the Jimmy for awhile. I ruptured (broke in two) my Achilles tendon just below my calve muscle and can not walk. :( Definetley feel helpless not being able to walk; especailly, caring for my 6 month old son. I have to crawl up the stairs with him to put him to bed. I see all of my part flowing in and can not do anything with them. Oh well.
