84 GMC Diesel Jimmy Build

Well will not be working on the Jimmy for awhile. I ruptured (broke in two) my Achilles tendon just below my calve muscle and can not walk. :( Definetley feel helpless not being able to walk; especailly, caring for my 6 month old son. I have to crawl up the stairs with him to put him to bed. I see all of my part flowing in and can not do anything with them. Oh well.
WOW... I was readin all your posts with my jaw on the floor then this one was like gettin slapped upside the head!!! :eek1: Dude, hope you heal up fast!!! What were you doing when it happened?

Bummer man. However you build is awesome, noticing a trend here.

Sorry to hear your bad luck, hope you can heal fast.

I was playing football...I must be getting old or something.

I finally put my Jimmy back together. I plumbed the new 2.5" intercooler tubing, turned up the pump (again...), installed the turbo (hy35), modified the exhuast down pipe, installed two new yellow top batteries, new aluminum radiator, and installed a canvas top. I ran into so many road block once the Jimmy was up and running. First, my batteries took a sh@# after five years of abuse. I was going to use interstates again; however, I took one of my yellow top out of my boat. Then the radiator crapped out...probably becasue of the high speed desert runs or my poor repair job. So I purchase an aluminum "Geninses" 6.2 diesel radiator off the internet for $144 dollars. I furgure it was chinese and it was. I usually don't buy chinese crap, but the quality is not bad. Time will tell.

here is the new soft topper. I think it is worth the money; especially, the weight savings and the shade for my son, wife and dogs.

this turned out really nice! congratulations!

stored away for future motivation

I still have 10 psi of boost, but have more power with the new addtions. I definetly need new injectors an overdrive, and 42's...in time.

Are you thinking of going with a 4l80e in the future? Very nice build, Wish I had your kind of skills.

I would like to; however, my build idea was to keep everything mechanical and simple. I thought about a manual shift 4l80, but I don't want to shift all the time. I even thought about the 6l80/85/90E's, but I would have the same problem. If I go this route I will probably use a 6l90E. There is alot of pluses (i.e. two over drives, low 1st and reverse gear). They have been dependable from what I can tell. I have one in my wifes Pontiac G8 GT and love it. And they use them in the trucks and suv's. I'll have to wait until they become more prevailent and cheap. There is only one company that I have heard of that has either built a computer or is still developing it. I am sure that it will cost over $900...:doah:

Some of the radiator. Seem to flow alot more...makes sense since it uses much larger two tube design (~5/8" in OD). The stock radiator was overkill for the Cummins 4BT, so I doubt I will ever have problems. One of my friend was thinking of trying one out on his turbo'd 6.2.

Sweet rig!!!!!

I just picked up the cheap wal mart driving lights. They worked well until they were running for a few hours and I crossed a small water runoff. The lenses were not tempered... I order some led rock light from visionx. I have not installed them but they look promising. http://www.visionxusa.com/LED-Tantr...D_ROCK_LIGHT_KIT_SUPERWHITE/product_info.html
