I've been lurking here for awhile and figured I'd start my buildup thread. It's going to be slow going at first but as funds and time become available I will most more pics and progress. I know it's not much of a build compared to most of the ones on here.Hopefully I can gather up all the parts I need and just do the build all at once.

Criticism/Advice/hate mail.lol is welcome

plans for the build:
10 bolt front , 14 bolt full float rear, some type of locker/limited slip rear
locker/selectable locker rear
6 inch suspension 3 inch single exhaust
33x12.50 tsl radial
headers
350
quadrajet
I would like to improve the ride on it at least a little bit if possible. Maybe my wife or daughter might enjoy riding in it when its done.

As it currently sits

Worn out 305

New some facts about my truck today
1)Found oThe Sequoia Special was the spiritual successor to the Bonanza/Bonanza packages of the '80 and earlier time frame, which in turn descended from the even earlier Highlander discount option packages.

While the earlier packages were specific option groupings priced at a discount, however, the Sequoia amounted to the proverbial "buy several options, get one free" scheme, and were apparently offered during the winter/spring months. Specifically, the buyer would receive either C60 air conditioning OR MX1/MX0 3spd/4spd automatic transmission WITHOUT CHARGE if he selected the following options:

ZY4 deluxe two tone paint (not color specific, with contrasting color on the roof and lower bodyside)
V22 deluxe front appearance package (i.e. chrome grille/quad headlamps)
TT5 halogen high beam headlamps
U35 electric clock
A01 tinted glass
ZQ2 Operating convenience package (i.e. power windows/locks)
U58 AM/FM stereo radio (w/an upgrade allowed)
K34 electronic speed control
N33 tilt steering wheel
CD4 intermittent windshield wipers

The overdrive auto transmission discount was applicable only to 1982 and later 1/2 and 3/4 ton pickup models which normally offered that transmission on an RPO basis. The package content was likely fairly consistent from year-to-year.

Other than the reference to the "YH6 Sequoia Special" listed on your glove box label, these models are indistinguishable from similarly optioned (non-discounted) vehicles.

2)Truck was built in St. Louis, MO.

3)350 is a 2 bolt main out of a 1970 camaro/caprice with automatic.(second motor, had the factory 305 that was rebuilt by previous owner)

I've contemplated changing to manual, but my DD is already manual. Only difference is the DD is narrow and the blazer is a mile wide, makes leaning over there harder. Would be easier to remove the doors though. errr

I will probably miss the power windows but it's less to go wrong down the road.

Driver side vent window handle and driver side manual window regulator ordered and on the way. Picked up a Grant Steering wheel from my dad.

Apparently he bought in brand new and put it on his first car he had in high school(56 chevy). Which means this wheel is roughly 44 years old.

Scored a few more parts this week.

Got a new transfer case shifter, if I go to a floor shift I will get a matching one. What do ya'll think?

I like the split bench seats, I need that for my truck :waytogo:

I may end up going back to a bench seat. Sadly the center console was worse off than it appeared. It now is just two buckets. I haven't decided yet. The original bench which my dad and I recovered that I still have, I may install that.

What did the bucket seats come out of? Did they bolt right in?

If I could find some with swivel arm rests, that would be awesome :pimp:

The seat bolted right in except for one bolt. It's a no name brand from what I can tell. The guy I bought it from said it had been installed in a blazer and suburban before he installed it in his pickup.

This seat was two buckets and a console/seat thing in the center on a redneck frame, all were on one track like a bench but the buckets reclined indepedently and the console had a storage underneath. I've never seen one like it.
