84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
I thought the stub shaft was different but I am prob wrong. I do also have to try to keep the $$ under control because i am broke.. 50$ here and there add up. So going to a different housing causes a lot of those little deals to add up.
It is working for now and until it breaks I am going to gather the parts that I can cheap and local.

That being said and the primary reason I am dry on funds was because of this!! My aircon showed up!! I am very stoked at the compact size of the evaporator!! Keeps my underdash cleaner and easier to work on also!
I went with this mainly because I could talk to someone that was genuinely interested in my business and how they could help us. I read good reviews and comparing it to Vintage Air I felt there was plenty out there to be at least equal or better than their offering, so conicendentially we’re now elite dealers for these guys. We’ll be putting these on some first gen trucks, and our blazers will be getting systems as well! So we’re not gonna be super hot running around the desert. Also they’re heating setup is integrated into the box as well. Old Air Products is who’s system this is.
I’ve never done one of these before so I am not sure what to expect. The interesting thing I thought was nice was how everything was packaged nicely and labeled, the electrical connectors are packard brand which I thought was good, the hoses etc are from what I can tell a good barrier hose, one side being crimped for you. The extra hose ends etc are packaged together.
Instructions seem straight forward. I’ll report back on the installation.

I was also sent a pretty cool shirt and hat.. one thing I forgot to mention was there was a pretty big gap in the price from vintage to Old Air, it was nearly 200$. Considering they are designed to do the same thing I felt that was substantial and after discovering neither uses the actual sanden compressor but a proprietary sanden style made that differential in price seem more like vintage was charging some name tax... maybe not but we’ll see how cool this gets out here when it’s 125F..

Air conditioning? Hell I don't really care if my windows roll down...HA! Of course it has never been above 80 degrees on my mountain. Just get going down the road and crack the vent window....you'll be fine.

That is a better condenser than what Vintage Air supplied for my truck back in the late 90s. I have heard that Old Air puts out a better overall system , I guess you will find out!

I love the pickup on the front of that shirt. I'm very interested to hear how this works pretty sure AC will be the next big project on the crew cab so @Bent77 doesn't have to hear about my sweaty balls anymore.

Just finished removing the nostalgic ac from the truck, what a totally different method of doing the same thing.. super long evaporator, and took almost every inch of the underdash space up. Pita to remove.. also a weird coupler from the fan to the evap and the distribution looked like it wouldn’t get much air to the outer edges.. I’ll take some pics and post them..

Well since I got the wrong condensor I figured that instead of working on installing the ac which I can’t use, I’d perform a high performance upgrade to a safety component.
This has instructions that are printed sometime during 1984.. a year before I was a twinkle..
