84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
I think Martin was referring to something like a Tru Trac?

I got a spare pump so no biggie there but a selectable would be nice but I don't want to put much money into a 10b and yea ya warned me so .. You where right.. But your still a midget lover! @bent72

That is one seriously long run-on sentence. :eek1:

I think I would have split it into 7 sentences.

If you have a D44 front housing, used parts are easy to come by. Saw a used ARB for $500 here in Denver yesterday

I have a 10 bolt.
If I had steering that would go all the way to the stops, and not scream at me when doing so I might be inclined to run a lunchbox style locked like an Aussie which @bergerking has in his blazer, and was easy to install.
From the trails yesterday, I think I'd be ok with a Detroit or similar in the back. It is really annoying to have to get out to unlock one hub, I also can see some issues when it's snowing or when in sand where a front locker might push.

I came to despise the Detroit in the rear of my K5. Great on trail, not so much on ice.

Are factory posi units even available for your axles?

Eaton makes a posi unit for the 10-bolt. I've heard of them being a factory thing, but don't quote me on that.

And there's always the Gov-lock...

Man. :doah: :doah: :doah:

I thought a new ARB setup was a $1200 investment.
Keep your ears peeled. I bought a D44 4.56, ARB, 8 lug outers, and chromoly shafts for $1000.

Someone going 60 will dump those to finance the upgrade.

You can have the open 3.73 carrier this came from, I swear it was never driven hard.....

So what's your story, then?

I was hauling a pair of anhydrous tanks up a hill on gravel and should've only had one. This is the result of a 300 yard 4x4 burnout on gravel the rest of the way up the hill

So funny story.. @bergerking can attest to this, somehow I attract people or Ethel does.. when we pulled into town to fuel back up for the drive home, we were followed into the gas station and this guy asks us if were local and tells me I have a nice truck. Then mentions the hubcaps, I now already were going to be friends! I mean cmon who doesn't love HUBCAPS!! so we start chatting and he tells me that hes got a ton a spare parts etc.. I'm thinking ya sure whatever everyone says that..
I got his number and figured Id meet up with him Sunday(today), last day of my vacation, why not? Well I'm sure glad I met James, because hes got the nicest crew cab Ive even seen in person and ridden in.

Get this, 454 tbi, th400, D60/14bolt locked up front and rear (factory option) camper special, heater/ac, blue cloth.. benches front and rear, its a higher trim but the PO ordered the truck with manual locks and windows.
I got to ride in it for 50 or so miles, has good power, sounds really nice (flowmaster) for stock everything else and having 107k miles.. He wanted my hubcaps.. I had to decline.. But we are on the lookout for some!
James showed me around, sorry I didn't take any pics out of respect. But he gave me a grille for Ethel, the correct one by chance! with the emblem! I also bought an NP241c from him as well, because the 208 is leaking really bad now.
So it was a cool day, met a really cool dude.
