84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
So no go tonight, it's 12:48 and I've gotten most of the stuff ready to run. Only a few minor items left before I can start it. Fuel pump needs to be wired, the one tank needs to be pumped dry of diesel, I need to wire up the starter and alternator. Run battery cables and fill the trans.
I just found out the oem intake boot or hose whatever it's called hits my hood.. I swear I've spent some much money twice on this crap.. getting old real quick!
Anyway I'm sure it'll be great once she's fired up and idleing.
I also got the cooling system squared away.

Real close now, got the diesel pumped out of the tank, there was 8 gallons left and the new pump had zero issues self priming which was nice, it also makes 62 psi! Wtf over! That was supposed to be a 58 psi regulator.. oh well.
The fuel system holds tight and I left the gauge on there to see what it is when I get up in the morning.
Literally right now I could start it. But I'll wait for daylight. I gotta Prescott az turnaround tommorow so it'll be a long day!

Tried to start but I must have got the cool wires mixed up somehow?? Magic smoke from the starter area.. uh oh

Jeez. Red is positive. Black is negative. Lol
Could just be a loose connection, i've seen those smoke pretty good.
