So I had some problem I didn’t know I had and professionally trained master mechanic by the name of “Bubbs” stopped by to evaluate this critical issue!

He kept saying something about gas and talking jinnerish and mechanic jargon that I don’t understand.

He did some looking around and finally asked me for some tools! Now rather unorthodox tools for what I assume wouldn’t fit but the 7/8 and 11/16 wrenches and a 5/8 socket apparently fixed the problem up quick!!

He did have his lifted Jeep with him it was on coilovers and 54s and looked pretty serious based on the scratches on the roof and sides.. one can only guesss what “Bubbs” does on his free time!

Here’s Ethel being Ethel,

Man this tuning thing is awesome! I’ve figured out that something with my old exhaust was causing false knock, which led me to pull all the timing out right where I needed it, so now I have been adding it back in, the by product is a very very responsive truck in OD, even better still mpg, it has to be near 20mpg now, I made it home today on an 1/8th and that’s what it uses on the way into work! Slowing down to 70 also obviously helped that, it can do 70 at 15% throttle in OD up my grade.. it’s just stupid, I never would have believed that a squarebody of my own could pull this off, day in and out with little to no sweat.. annnnnd pull onto the freeway with authority.. keeping up with new tundras and silverados with ease.. and the look on their face when you pass them up north of 80 with hubcaps on an old farm truck.. lol love every last minute of it!

Well I believe I have close to 5k miles on this so far and I have had my first big problem.. I guess drilling the face has not stayed tight, I was cruising to lunch and downshifted and heard what I believe is a bolt that came out or interfered with the clutch and made a loud banging sound.
So it’s very likely it’s gonna have to come out and at this rate might be for sale so I can put an auto in...

Somehow I missed a bunch of posts in this one??? Your mechanic looks like the real deal Steve. Tell him I need some help in my rig as well!

Maybe your noisy vibrating trans did it.
Kinda weird unless it was not straight with the surface so that it put a weird crooked load on the bolt when tightened down.
Probably true on many counts. Definitely learned some lessons.. like don’t try to save 350$ on a mission critical part that is a pita to remove..

Ok found a solid 4l80 with a 2600 stall circle d converter, it has the dual fed clutch mod and some other trinkets. AN cooler lines to a plate cooler.
Should have mine out Saturday and this one on its way and in and done before Xmas.
