84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Nice shop! I like watching what you guys build! :waytogo:
Thanks buddy! Trying to get some stuff nailed down so we can get more video and pics out there, it’s hard finding the time!
Be interested in how you like the auto vs the manual trans. 4l80 will probably be my next trans.
I’m wondering myself, I also wonder how the ratio splits are gonna feel and how much of my crawling ability’s are lost. Well see!

Okay... jeeez about stressing my brain to the max here trying to figure this out. I’ve decided because of the time constraint for KOH on my blazer and the fact that I replaced the input bearings, it is smarter to skip the long path to 4l80e swappage, the trade that was impending didn’t happen because the trans came up with no 1st gear the morning he was driving to pull it out so that sealed the fate for the trade. Without a decent core I would have to spend near 1500 for a pull out from Tilden Motorsports and another 1k for them to go through it and make it solid, plus the ancillary wiring and tcm programming and time for learning the trans tuning etc has already gone into stupid hours just researching what I need. I won’t get the cash I need to fully cover the swap so I am sucking it up and buying the proper conversion bell like I should have initially.
So we stick with stick, and I guess I keep my man card.. actually kind of relieved.

FWIW the AA bell is a very nice piece, well worth the dough in my opinion having bought one back in the day. I needed to clearance the inside of the bell so the nose of the 6.2 starter would fit, but you should't have that problem...anymore. lol

So, you drilled your case to fit the older GM bellhousing and had the bolts come loose/fall out? What happened? No Loctite? I'm getting ready to do the same and am curious what your thoughts are on this method now.

Thatta boy! I’ve been running the AA bell for a few months, worth every penny. For me running a mechanical clutch I wish they’d send the pivot ball with but you won’t have that issue.

I think it was a multitude of issues, I didn’t face the case for the bolt heads to seat properly, the holes were not deep enough and not perfectly straight. All contributors to it loosening and kicking the bolts out the bellhousing.
