84 K30 DRW 6.2L/Banks/Gear Vendors

I really wanted to make Jax Florida Sunday afternoon, to see my friends pull into the convention with their trailers, so I didn't realize that 80 was flat out! Turbo was whistling away at 6 lbs... 4" sewer exhaust was a bit annoying with two little reasonators..

Rustproofing? I brought my TEERUKS to a guy in Canada. Spraying grease is VERY popular, into the doors, frame, basically EVERYWHERE! Trouble is, you MUST use grease, and specigically OILY RUNNY grease. the fellow I used had the rite product, but a little lazy. I'd return to pick up the vehicles, and he'd have only done one of the two. Partially my fault, as I was late, but he's rather watch TV than work on making more cash after hours...

And he missed the diffy and driveshaft of my San Francisco Sub, and the trailer hitch, and the most IMPORTANT area, that I TOLD him about, the tailgate hinge support area! I wish I woulda' made a note of the product he used, as it creeps ALL winter. It would ooze outta' molding pins on my wife's Acura for months! Exactly what you'd wnat it to do!
Ebay has a supposedly similar apparatus, but it's $1000... Krazee!!!

Yeah I would not undercoat it it will hide the rust, keep it paint and watch it and clean it often and you should be ok. Its the dirt sitting in the hiding places and the salt sitting in the same that starts the rust keep it clean and it should last awhile.

so when you going wheeling now that you have a tow rig?

Went last weekend with the ATV. Going next weekend with the, uhh, Jeep :screwy: . The K5T is still a work in progress.

My situation is exactly the same. I feel for ya. I got the Burb from Sacramento a couple of years ago and it still hasn't seen salt. I've been shooting some carwell rust inhibitor in between the panels while I have the interior out just this week... seems to coat pretty well... but I know what one Michigan winter can do to an old truck. :eek1:

Oh, yeah... and do your research x2 if you're going cross country... and nice Diesel Truck CUCV2!!!

I like your plan of action. Storing it winters is in the cards. Basically 8 mos. of the year :D. I'll take/share a couple of pics of the truck polished up for ya.

Just keeping a vehicle dry and out of the elements does seem to help. It's when they get rode hard and put away wet that they seem to get the sickness :tongue1:.

you should make a trip down and buy the truggy from me :D at a good price of corse

Thanks for the offer. I need to trim down the fleet if anything. I currently have 7 cars/trucks/atv. One for everyday of the week :D. You should keep your rig. It's way better than a Jeep.

Here's the truck as it sits today. And here's a Jeep fix for you twoslo.

nice ZJ and of course nice crew cab. whats your plans for the cc and are you going to leave the running boards on?

Thanks for the comments. The running boards are growing on me. The truck seems to always be clean because of them and they keep it from getting parking lot shots. The kids and their mother seem to appreciate them as well. Plans are to use it for what it is, a hauler. Camping, boating, and to haul the K5T project eventually. We used it the other day because it seated 6 of us comfortably. We used it last weekend to bring the family and the ATV on a weekend trip. It is all kinds of handy. I'm definitely digging the CC feature and would highly recomend it. There were some thoughts as to a mild lift (2.5") and some narrow 33s but there are enough irons in the fire right now.

Here are some quick shots of the K5T build.

Their functionality is all that kept them from going to scrap when I had it too.

That's funny. That is what I ended up using it for more than anything else. My sister who is NOT a truck-type person even commented about how nice the truck was and how nice it rode.

Nice job on the polishing. Looks great!! I showed junior and he passes along his approval. He was mildly pissed that I sold the truck, but now that the Suburban is mobile from time-to-time, I think he has forgotten how much he liked it. You want to come back and polish the Suburban for me?? It was only about 107 today, so it has cooled off a bit. Did you remove the tint from the front side glass??

Ii is good to hear that junior is ok with things. I like this truck a lot but I have to say that I would choose the Cummins Burb over it too. That is a beauty that gets better with every step of your build. How's the build going? I would come back to polish it if it meant I would be taking that home too :wink1:. I am starting to get low on driveway space though :D. The tint on the front side glass of the CC had to be removed to pass inspection. There's not as much sunny weather up here so it works out. It is getting a spray-in bedliner tomorrow.

Inspector required removal of tint? Not around here, luckily!

Front window tint is illegal here. I swear all the hippies from the 60s decided to live and breed up here. Sensitivity training was designed by people who need a thicker skin. I'd like to start a Thick Skin training class for all the liberals that would show them how to work for a living. Maybe then they would ease up on all the useless laws/taxes they seem to like to create.

So, this is coming up for sale again. Now it's in New England, with a Armorthane spray-in bedliner, undercoating, and an ORD steering box brace. Any interest in it? Back story, we're doing a trade: This monster, for my monster 68 (sort of) K30 (converted C30) Long Horn. The truck Chevy never built. Problem is, I have three other trucks and don't need one that requires it's own zip code. I really need a tractor with a loader, a flail mower and a brush hog. We're also trying to figure out what it's worth as part of that trade.

What's the price tag going to be this time. I've got nothing to trade, hell, I don't even know what 1/2 that stuff is, I'm a city boy!

That's the problem, we're not sure of value, as there's nothing here similar. Same with Craig's list and Ebay.

So let me get this straight....i missed the deal because i was almost homeless and broke.
It left Az for VT which is where its at currently...and i am in WV working and need a more fuel efficient ride....hmmm.

That's correct. I can even drive it halfway to meet up.
