for the record, there are a few other vendors offering flips... DIY4X, Sky, couple others... personally I like the DIY4X due to the external shackle style.. but ORD parts are quality pieces too...

The front HD shackles and large greasable bushings aren't mandatory but recommended for a softer ride, the flip kit will require dropping the fuel tank and grinding off the rivets out of the frame on the stock hangars, a little labor intensive but well worth it, not to mention best bang for your buck. As for purchasing the shackle flip from either mentioned vendors, it depends on where you want to go with the truck, if I had DIY4X's flip kit, I could easily fab my own custom length shackles since i still want to play around with longer springs and shackle angles, but ORD offers extended shackles too.

Oh, forgot to mention earlier, nice K5!:thumb:

To tell the truth, I was thinking about 6" spring lift......but then I would have to lengthen the shafts and would have alot of vibrations from the short wheel base right?

4" will clear 35's according to most of the fitment charts I've found. and I would get the tires before or at the same time as your lift. It'll look funny and be more tipsy with the little tires on the lifted truck.

I thought about a 6" lift with 2" lift springs in the rear with the 4" flip. However 6" is almost too tall for me, down the road a D60 adds approx 3/4" of lift, coupled with a zero rate to move the axle forward about an inch to keep 37" tires out of the firewall, I'm also going to be using 6" shackles in the rear and another zero rate to move the rear axle back an inch, when all is said and done I would end up 5 3/4" lift in the front and 6" lift in the rear. Also the 37s will net me 2" higher than my 33s so it will be a tall truck, but a smooth riding flexy tall truck:woot:.

As for your driveline concerns, I had nasty vibes when I just put on my lift, this was completely eliminated by a "poor boy" 1" transfer case drop (temporary till I get funds for a CV driveline with a NP241 flanged SYE kit) however I didn't need to lengthen my rear driveline. The front isn't that much of a concern with a 4" lift, although you may notice your front driveline getting a little "intimate" with your Y pipe, especially after lowering the Tcase.

Nah man I say keep it stock and classy hahah. Thats just my opinion but I think your truck looks fantastic. May be because its like the exact replica of mine, but way nicer paint and windows. But the way your truck looks excluding that small rust on the rockers (which with a grinder and some fiberglass is an easy cheap fix, I had the same spot on mine) your truck is perfect in my opinion. But hey thats just me. :thumb:

2.5 in lift and 32 or 33 in tires for DD is perfect and less problems. Still good on trails too. I personally like the "stockish" look too. Just my opinion though.

Problems such as driveline issues with lifting the truck. Some people, myself included, have had driveline vibrations when going with a 4" lift but others don't. I fixed mine by putting a CV on the driveline. Others have done a t-case drop.

Steering will also have to be corrected in the form of a dropped pitman or a raised steering arm. It's not that big of a deal, but you need to do it.

The higher you go, the more things pop up and have to be corrected.

With such a mild lift you usually dont run into driveline issues, vibes, etc. compared to like a 6 in lift. Also with the smaller tires 32 or 33 easier on tranny if you dont have correct gears. All i'm saying is for a DD driver with a bit tougher stance and stiil looks "stockish" I like just a small lift. But just me.

Oh see I was getting that he meant less issues with a 2.5" over stock. I was like whaaaa? lol.

Good looking K5 you've got there!!!

When I bought my Jimmy, it was all stock other than a set of 3" tuff country ez rides up front, a shackle flip out back, a steering box weld in frame re-inforcement, a steering box brace, and longer brake lines (all these parts from ORD), 33" super swampers, and Cragar soft eight wheels. Road perfectly! Road so well in fact that I kept the suspension the same (other than adding custom shock mounts and longer Bistein 5150's) when I went to 1 tons and 37's! Still rides great!!!

Should have been done by now. I hate back orders, said parts will ship on the 29th, they are waiting on the shocks.

Lift Started

I received my 4" lift the other day. It is an all spring lift. I know I said I was going to do a shackle lift in the back, but I changed my mind and went with the spring lift for the rear. I started on the lift last night after work and worked on it some today, Front is mostly done. Luckily the steering knuckle came off after about ten hits with a ball peen hammer. I need to bleed the brakes up front and then off to the back. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

Here are a couple pics after the lift. I am with the lift on the front but with the spring lift in the back it looks a little saggy still.

I torqued the steering knuckle to 80 foot lbs ( I believe that is what it is supposed to be). So far so good. With this Tuff Country 4" lift I had to remove the front Sway Bar. I drove it around a little today and I am going to put the sway bar back on (need the corrector kit for it).

it looks pretty level really. park on flat concreate and measure to your rockers front and back. looks level there. Nice look for that truck too.:waytogo:

If you want to keep your sway bar, this is your best option:

Yea I was looking at that. I think I will get that since I can't find no other option. Also on the short test drive I noticed the steering feels a lot different now. Feels like the steering wheel wants to move a little bit on its own, not sure if the sway bar has anything to do with it.
