So i recently bought a k5 with a 350 and an edelbrock carb. I rebuilt the carb and slapped the carb back on to give it a go and it won't start up. It cranks but won't start. If I put gas in the carb and turn the key it starts right up but won't stay running. It'll run for a second or two. I took off the fuel line to the carb and stuck it in a can and turned the key for about 5 seconds and then went to the can to see if I'm getting gas and the can was a little over half full. Am I getting enough gas? What could be the problem?

Is there a mesh fuel filter screen at the carb? If so take it out and replace or try it without it. I would put the gas can on top of the carb and see if it pumps into the can when the can is high up just to ensure you weren't being assisted by gravity and maybe the fuel pump is weak.

Was it running before you rebuilt the carb?

Have you verified that it is for sure a fuel issue (are you getting spark)? Knowing whether it was running before you rebuilt the carb would definitely be good to know.

EDIT: Just saw that you said it fires off if you feed it gas, so you're definitely getting spark.

What size can are we taking about? A soda can 5 seconds half full, no not enough. A large coffee can 5 seconds half full yeah you got plenty of gas.
Is this the quadrajet that is stock, or another brand of carb.
Recommend replacing all the soft gas lines all the way to the tank sending unit. While doing that inspect the metal lines for rust cracks pinches.
