i am replacing my exhaust system from the headers back. right now the pipes exit in front of the back tires. i want to put the pipes coming out the back. i am wondering what type of mufflers do i need offset, center/offset/ center/center?? i am using 2.5" diameter from the headers out. any help would be greatly appreciated, and any tricks or traps to watch out for. thanks again.

i used 18" pro-flo's with a center in center out setup on my 81. had it custom built by a shop north of town 30 miles.

i don't want to take to someone and have a custom job done. i would like to do it myself. i am no master mechanic, but i can follow directions and am pretty logical about things, and i really don't want to spend that kind of money.

exhaust work is generally pretty cheap...

If you have headers, it's already had custom work... just buy new mufflers, and take it to a shop.. They'll add tailpipes in addition to new front pipes if you want.. you may also want to consider a crossover tube...

I used a Hooker dual exhaust kit on my burban, pretty sure they make one for the k5 too. It has exits behind the rear wheels, mandrel bends, and would have fit perfect if I used Hooker headers rather than Hedman. Price was around $150 without mufflers, any center in/offset out will work. I thought about making my own exhaust, but this was easier and fairly cheap.

thank you for the info, but i really want to do this myself. i guess worse case scenerio i can take to a off road shop and have them fix my screw up, but i would like to give it a go myself. the process of changing out my headers and putting in a new exhaust system doesn't seem hard, but that's only on paper. i don't have a/c so that is one less thing to worry about. i am more concerned with where to hang the pipes and could i get pre-bent pipes from places like advance or napa. thanks again in advance for any info.

thanks USSKOVAL. i am actually going to buy the hooker headers and put cherry bomb turbo mufflers on. i just want the change of exhaust pipe exit from side in front of tires to straight back or angle out to corners of rear bumper.

IVe got duals on my 84 K5. Im running them straight out the back. Ive got Flowmasters and Catco cats. I think my flowmasters are enter one side and exit the other.

Honestly, it would be cheaper and less aggrevation to let a muff. shop do the work. Usually 200bux will get you in and out.

are they center/ center, center/ offset, or offset/ offset. besides, doing it myself gives me time away from the wife and i find it fun and relaxing. thanks i will keep the price thing in mind. i may even call around and compare prices.
