Hello from Nampa ID! Thought I’d introduce myself & my project, then ask fo some advice. I’ve got a former military 84 K5 that I’ve been working on for some time. What kinda started as a budget build is turning into a frame of Resto-Mod. I’ve got plans & pictures that I’ll post later, but right now I’m seeking advice on what to do to my 39 year old A pillar door posts. Things are kinda bent & cracked, and I’d like to repair & straighten this area for both doors. I’m not afraid to do some cutting & welding, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As you can see things are kinda fubar. I’m thinking of cutting the mess out, welding the nut to a larger 1/8” plate & replacing the bent metal with newer steel. Any suggestions?

I'm planning to do the same on mine which you can see someone just ripped the striker bolt out, cage nut and all. Welcome to ck5!. Fwiw the top to bottom spot welds are 2 3/4 in apart. This is a pretty common problem on these and I'm sure someone who has already done this will chime in. Your b pillar looks pretty good otherwise

And I would reconstruct the cage nut assembly rather than weld the nut to the plate because you might need to adjust the striker bolt when you fit the doors

Continuing with my K5 RestoMod I’ve been prepping my chassis for a 4.5” suspension lift. I’m using ORD Rear Shackle Flip & F.O.S.H kits plus 4” front leaf springs. Skyjacker Black Max shocks & Greasable leaf and shackle bushings will handle bumps and bounces. The shocks will have 12.5” of travel. The only concern I have is what to do for bump stops? Should I stick with OEM or find something taller? Any suggestions?

Also, I’m trying to find information about the 10 bolt axles I get to go through but all I’ve got are the stamping on the axles themselves. This is all I’ve got from the front axle IMG_0083.jpegIMG_0085.jpegIMG_0084.jpeg
