I am thinking about buying a 84 K5. I am new to the blazer world and would
appreciate any insight. I want the vehicle mostly to carry myself, dog and
camping stuff to my property over unmaintained roads. Maybe some light
4 wheeling. The truck I like is basically stock, never been lifted.
Probably never will be, I don't want to head down that slippery
slope.
The body is in darn good shape, original paint, but no rust. The interior is
in good shape also. The engine has been rebuilt about 80K ago. It runs
well, a small puff of smoke when it started cold. No smoke after that.
The valves sound good, and the engine (350) pulled well. The tranny
was rebuilt about 45K ago, shifted crisply. The 4x4 system seemed to work
well, no clunking, whining or grinding.
I did find a few leaks. Valve covers, power steering and rear differential.
The drivers side door needs new bushings.
About 180K on the vehicle. The guy is asking $2800. I would appreciate
comments and things to look out for.
