so i got a hookup on some free 37's and HMMWV wheels from a friend.

what do i need to do to make these work?

thanks
Willis

8 lug axles, minor lift, wheel spacers or recentering the wheels. use the search function, theres lots of info on H1's on the board

You need a D60 and D70HD, both DRW configuration axles. Period.

3' per side or total, been getting mixed replyies was told it wont match up to a drw front.
i just got a new rim and tire set up and have all the tire inside want to move it outside the whell well alittle. thanks for the input been folowing the h1 conversion seems i need the same set up.
has any one just had there 14 bolt widened in stalled new axle tubes and axles. i know a littel spendy but you can upgrade the axles at the same time. Only down fall i see is stock axles are easier to come by and cheep but how common is a d70 also.

The way I always saw it referred to the van 14FF was the same width as the SRW D60 front, so 3" wider total than the truck SRW 14FF.

I think I may just get them recentered. Sounds like it would save alot of trouble. Anyone want to trade a 14bFF for a rear 60 I have in ATL?

Then I can just convert my front axle to 8 lug.

SRW D60f = 70" WMS-WMS
SRW 14 bolt = 67" WMS-WMS
SRW van width 14 bolt = 70" WMS-WMS
DRW D70 = 74" WMS-WMS
DRW 60f = 78" WMS-WMS

All those are aproximate measurements within 1/2"

Bare minimum would be:

8 lug conversion in front.
8 lug semi floater or 14b full floater rear
2 or 3in wheel spacers front and back
Done

Or as said the quote un quote only way to do it

DRW 1 ton axles.

DRW D70 = 74" WMS-WMS
DRW 60f = 78" WMS-WMS

All those are aproximate measurements within 1/2"

Anyone know if the DRW 14FF from the 88+ body style IFS trucks was the same width or did GM change it?

i believe they are the same width, differences are fins (i duno exactly what years they had them) and perches and shock mounts

Nothing a torch and welder wouldn't fix.

Just thinking that would be an option for those who either have 14FF stuff or don't want to mess with a Dana 70.

And won't do much a 14FF won't do cheaper.
exactly where i am try to get or find out just seems a d70 is the hard way to go..
i already have 1 14 ff locked and 410 ( yea i want 5.38 or deeper but the deeper you go the less strenght)
so why go through all the hassle of finding a 70 swaping on hubs from a good 14 bolt yad yad disc brakes when i can simply a get a $150 pick and pull 14 bolt van. or just pay 300.00 to 400.00 to get my current 14 bolt widened to what ever i want and simply bolt it on and down the road bolt on rear disc if i want.

Eh, I'm not a super crawler or anything and not running 46" or larger tires so I really have no use for gears lower than 4.56's myself.

The people who can actually use a 5.12 or deeper gear on here are fewer than most would think so I don't think that's much of an issue for most folks.

If it were me I'd just go find a 88+ IFS dually and steal it's 14FF. Around here you can almost have dually rear axles so between the purchase of the dually 14FF and the 14FF Detroit you might have spent what a D70 Detroit goes for.
