84-up speedos

ok so anyone know whats up with the wires coming out of back of the speedos about 84 and up justlike this one ?

the 86 K5 305 700r4 208 out here had oen of these speedos,
otherwise the last one i saw i took from an '84 C20 but i dont remember what engine and tranny it had in it, it was v8 and auto is all i remember.

i think it is the vss for cruise

VSS wires is correct.

What year did they go from transducer cruise control to electronic? My '83 was electronic cruise (w/VSS of course) as well.

ok so its for cruise, ok,

wires come from tranny then ? hmm ill have to look under and see how it can have electric with cable on tranny, humm.

the only wires from the tranny are gonna be for lockup. the reason they put the vss in the speedo is so they didn't have to put it on the tranny.

It is definately VSS, if you don't hook it up your truck may not idle to well after you come to a stop. The VSS gives a signal to the computer to tell the vehicle speed and then allows the IAC motor to do its job properly.
