I may have one of these. I'll check tomorrow and post back up.

I know the one I have is W shaped like that. But doesn't have the little bracket coming off of it like the one in the pic.

That is the skid plate. There holes will be there with or without it.

I believe that the W and the S shape both are interchangeable they put the transmission in the same place.
I had the W on the trucks with dual exhaust and the S on the single exhaust. I think I sold my last W but it was in a k30 crew cab I believe it is taller.

Mine appears to have been, um,, clearanced :dunno:.. looks like it was bent for D-shaft clearance. Or maybe it's just that way... ? Anyway... Here's the pics

Free if you pay for the shipping.
It'd be fed-ex.

The w and s crossmember do interchange as long as the exhaust will clear. The S came around 87-91. Maybe 88-91. They are the same height, but the 85+ 30 trucks have the crossmember inside the rails instead of under.

Because of the frame, the 77-84 30 crossmember is shallower than the 10 and 20 73-84 crossmember.

Carry on.

You are right the crossmember was on the inside on the crew cab.
The thickness of the profile is perfect to compensate for the taller frame.
GM did think about all the details when they were trying to get all the different options standardized.

85 and 86 share the same W 'member. 87 to 91 are the S shape. All of these are interchangeable. All of these share the same trans/t-case combos. K30's use the same ones as 10's and 20's but they sit up on the inside of the frame rails sitting on the lower lips. 10's and 20's bolt up to the underside of the rails.

That crossmember Shady posted is bent. Badly! That thing belongs in the scrap pile!
I thought it was a bad picture but looking back you are right it's pretty bad.
The crossmember does however have a notch where the driveshaft comes out so it is not symmetrical
