85 Frame

is there any diff between the 85 and 86 year frames (K5) so much that stock tow hooks from an 85 would or wouldn't bolt up to an '86?

Are you asking because you have a pair that don't fit? I'd have to say that those hooks would fit from 81-91. I've even put them on a 1983 C30 3+3...the mounting holes were still the same even on the 2wd one. I have some on my (supposedly) 1981 frame, not sure what they came off of. I would be relatively certain that they will fit across teh board.

The frames from an 85 and 86 are identical. You should have no problems with the tow hooks as they work on ALL trucks from 81-87, and blazers, subs from 81-91. I bought brand new tow hooks from GM for my 85 and they showed me the part no. is same for ALL 81-91's. If its not going in right or doesnt look right, you may have the hook positioned wrong or backwards.
