Where can I find one of these safety switch. Also who rebuilds these tailgate window motors? I any info on the tailgate would be good.

I use this company, had them repair a window motor for a 79 full size jeep, an currently have 2 window motors waiting to ship out. As for the safety switch look at LMC, I opt to omit this part in mine .
Call call ahead an let them know what you are looking for and they will get you going. Avg price for the rebuilt was 45 bucks.
I paid more for a reman that lasted little over a year an started acting up.

TY I am probably going to omit the switch. that switch sold with the latch and it is 225 for the latch with the switch. witch is too much

Hate it when I cant find it, but someone a couple years back (?) had posted about a company that was doing something like a gear reduction motor, and I want to say it was applicable to the tailgate motors.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I in finding the post.

Interesting to know that they rebuild the motors. I will save that contact info for future.

They sell replacement motors at places like truckshop or LMC for about 120, but chances are it's going to be a no-name Chinese motor

And yeah if you have problems with the switch I would bypass it, it's only there so that Bozo's don't break the rear window

That's why I have two motors, the one from LMC I kept from when I redid my 76, before I swapped to a manual one. 2 years later I tried installing it in my 83 an it doesn't wrk.
A call to lmc an was told it was out of warranty an I could get a new one.
So I opt to send them out to get re worked to were they are better than new
