Im kinda a newby to diff swaps so i thought i would pick you all's brains. Will a dana 60 and 14 bolt ff from a 85 chevy military truck swap to a 87 suburban 3/4 ton with no problems? or will i have to worry about spring perches and shock mounts?

the front is alot easer than the back on the front you need to change the top sring pad make sure you get the top spring pad with the 60 that is the only big thing in front .the back is a little more involved the sring pads on the one ton axles are a little narrower then a 3/4 ton so one of two ways cut sping pad off and reweld back on in right place or like i did was to chnge the frame hangers cut both set off put the set from one ton on 3/4 frame most holes linje up had to drill few no big deal

Umm, I think you are thinking wrong. This isn't a one ton truck that he is getting the axles from, it is a military pickup which means a 5/4 ton in military terms. It is effectively a heavy 3/4 ton truck. They have D60 front and 14bff rear, but the spring perches are in the same position. This swap should be a direct swap and he would only need the spring plates for the D60. If he has a 14bsf in the rear, which would be normal for a 3/4 ton Sub, then the spring plates would work for the 14bff.

ah no sir you are wrong. m series trucks are 1 ton just like civilian trucks.

he will need to move the spring pads and shock mounts or like others have done swap frame hangers. but then there is still the issue of shock mounts.

1/2 - 3/4 ton = 42.5 " spacing
1 ton = 40.5 spacing
this is for spring perches.
