'85 on big tars.(pics & video)

If the other side is flashing you have a bulb or something put in wrong. getting feedback through the parking light system.

That is the only way the systems are connected originally

There isn't any original wiring in this rig.

Take a look at the link to the wiring diagram.

did you check the squidnipple relay?

pinched it twice. It's good.:thumb:

Seriously though, tomorrow i'm going to find out if the converter we are using is LED compatible of if it says one way or another.

Then I think some poking around for voltages on the input side of the converter may tell me what i'm looking for. If there is a voltage on the input side back to the switch itself and not beyond, I believe that would confirm the converter is leaking voltage to the other turn signal.

one awesome build thread

51 very interesting pages of reading. It made my 6 hour ride from Duluth to SW WI fly by. Can't wait to see this project finished. It fires me up to get my 78 blazer done and on the trail.

Did some more testing today and I think i've pretty much narrowed it down to the trailer converter being the problem.

I disconnected the right signal from the turn signal selector switch. Selected the left turn signal and had the same issue. So, i'm getting 5 or so volts out of the trailer converter to the lights. The wire all the way back to where I disconnected it from the switch which should be its power source was energized with the 5 volts.

I've ordered a different trailer converter that is compatible with LED's.

ooof, how long has it been sitting?
glad your getting the bugs worked out!

Got a rattling, rumbling phone call today:pimp:

For who ever may be following along, if you intend to use a trailer converter to put your turn signal and brake on the same wire like Chevy has always done it and are using LED's, you'll have to use a converter that is rated for LED's. If you don't, the converter "leaks" enough voltage to cause the turn signals to flash on both sides regardless of which side is selected.

Finally got our issue worked out and that is what the solution was.

Good to hear its making noise
That cummins rattle sounds awesome dont it!
Also good info on the convertor
