85 S10 Blazer tranny questions

A buddy of mine just called me and told me the tranny on his 85 is going out. Anyway, what kinda tranny has it got in it, 700R4? It's a 4-speed auto behind a 2.8L. I was reading another post about a tranny swap, did someone say that a V8 700R4 will bolt up to that 2.8L? Also, what's a good used one gonna cost him? Thanks.

it is a 700r-4 and no a v8 one will not work, differnt bellhousing shape

4.3 are 90 degree, 3.1 and 2.8 and such are 60 degree, EXCEPT for RWD 3.8- in which are 90 degree
