I'm trying to firm up the shifter on my 85 K5. The spring in the linkage underneath is apparently missing. Anyone know where I can source all those parts and possibly where I can find a parts diagram??

Also, the shifter itself flops around on the column. I assume a spring is also missing there. I've searched the threads but don't see a step by step or repair diagram for that either...

Anyone got any pointers??

Well, you have the shift plate inside the column. It has the "gates" for each gear. If it's warn, that would cause problems. There is a spring that holds the lever against the "gates" also, like you said.

On the end of the steering column, near the firewall, there is a replaceable grommet that holds the rod going down to the frame. I think I got a new one from LMC.

On the frame, there is a nylon bushing of sorts that can be replaced. I think LMC again is where I got mine. It can probably be made easily if you can't find it. I lost the spring at some point in my build and found a perfect replacement at OSH Hardware. Been on there for 3,000+ miles. All you really need is the same diameter. The new one is much longer, but you can cut it down or (like I did) just use it as is.
