85 with 77 driveline!!

ok tech guys, here is what ive done. i have a 77 k5 parts truck and a 85 k5 which i have taken the th350 208 setup out of 85 and installed the th350 np203 from the 77....and im tansplanting the th350 203 into the 85....problem when trying to use either of the crosmember brackes to mount the transfercase to the frame..what should i do and am i leaving something out im not thinking of? neither crossmembers will connect to the frame.

If my memory servers right, the 77 should have a 3 piece crossmember? bolts together under, then two braces on top.

The 85's original crossmember should bolt to that trans.

it does but when u go to mount it to the fram it will not lin up with the rfactory holes..do i hav to drill new holes?

Not to be rude, but please spell out the whole word.

Drill new holes where? Like the trans mounts don't match the cross-member?


The crossmember should have the holes but oblonged to allow the different style of mounts to work.

No I tried to mount both cross members but neithr would line up with the holes that are on the frame. I'm trying to use a th350 with a np203

Any 1 got pics of this setup, as far as the crossmember. Cause my crossmember is 1 piece. I'm kinda starting to get confused

You're gonna have to drill new holes in the frame. A th350/208 combo is not the same length as a th350/208 combo. This should have been fairly obvious....

Why are you replacing a TH350/NP208 with a TH350/NP203?

Because the shafton one of the th350 that's went out and I'm using a diff transmission and the shafts are diffrent sizes
