i just put new axles and new lift kit in and the truck didnt drive for a pritty long time well when it was done i went to go drive it and it wont shift now what could be wrong

Did the TV cable either become disconnected, break, or did you mess with it?

I'M having the same problem except I found mine had broken. I changed it and thought I adjusted it correctly but it still doesn't shift. I haven't had time to look at it but when I get home on the 2nd I can....maybe someone will shed some light on what we need to check first to trouble shoot this...

its good never touched it and moves free just stays in first and the trany has new filter and oil

If this trans shifted before you did the filter and fluid change then i would suspect that the filter either fell off or isn't installed correctly and therefor not sucking fluid. Might be time to drop that pan and inspect.

it worked after i did the filter

If you were too low on fluid to shift, I would not expect it to go into gear. Here are some possibilities:

1) TV cable broken or disconnected (have you actually checked?)
2) Governor gear broken - tranny thinks the vehicle is not moving.
3) Filter has fallen out of the pump intake - but again it would probably not go into gear at all.
4) Junk in the valve body following fluid change (could be the throttle valve = same symptoms as #1).
5) Broken parts, maybe the sunshell.
