im selling my 86 jetta 1.6 diesel 5 speed wolfsburg edition with 278k. im only selling it because i now have a newer civic to drive. first things first, this thing is not the prettiest car ever made, nor is it the fastest. but if your looking for reliability and fuel economy, you cant beat it. i bought this jetta about a year ago. the good: ive put a couple new parts on it including alternator, fuel lines, glow plugs, oil change (both engine and tranny), new coolent, battery, and radiator. the car is in decent shape for its age. the interior is pretty decent for its age also. the car runs and drives nice. it has a detailed maintance record from when it was new. the heat cranks real good. its got a valid Pa inspection until july. it has a good clear title. the bad: there is a rust spot is in the divers side rear door jam. the drivers door handle broke but i will include a new one in the sale. the exhaust started to leak right were the exhaust went into the muffler, so i took the muffler off (still a good muffler, just needs re-welded back on). the a/c doesnt work. there is a chevy grill on the front of it but a stock one could easilly be put back on it from a salvage yard. this would be a great daily driver. with a little tlc, it wouldnt look half bad either. i really need to sell this, so im saying $400 takes it

i know its hard to believe it, but when i was driving it, i loved it. going from my 14 mpg blazer to a 45 mpg jetta was so awesome :D. like i said, its not pretty but it gets you were your goin for next to nothing :wink1:

PM Ramjetgmc, he is looking for a commuter. If he passes on it, I will probably take it.

I'll tell ya too........That little engine will be sweet in a Samurai with a tiny little turbo.........
:D

thats what I wanted it for

yes it would. and just to help it sell, i can include a turbo with it :D. it would take alittle fabbing but it coule be made work

Going to pass on it, forgot how far away York was from me. Throw it up on Craigslist, someone will take it off of your hands.

how many miles can you get out a of diesel?
whats tha average. I could definatly use it for commuting.
would you throw in the valance and radiator we talked about? :D

what do you mean how many miles? you talkin mpg or engine life? mpg, the average is anywhere from 42-45 mpg. these engines normally last 400k+, ive even seen one break 600k on original internals. just depends how its taken care of. if you want the car, yes i would throw in the valance and rad :D.

Mike, I can have a trailer available - or I could give you a ride up there, if you want. Call me.

I am sorry, I wanted to know how long does a diesel engine as in how many miles can you get out of one before it dies, but you answered. cool.
sounds like a good deal, let me talk to the wifey, see where I can park a 5th vehicle in my yard:D
is the car near where I came to visit you last time?

yeah, i think exactally a mile from where you were last time. a mile closer to 83. its basically a milel right off the exit. if your seriously interested, i can take some more pics of everything so you know exactally what your comming for. i can get a running video also if you like. its alittle bit of a drive to come and not know what your getting, so id rather you be safe then sorry. just let me know what you decide.

Hey I'm very interested. Could you send or post some more pics? Is it driveable the way it sits now? I need to get it back to CT. I teach autoshop and would love to convert it to biodiesel with the kids.

Thanks

Andy
